Bio
Paige Follmann Robinson is a contemporary painter based in Charleston, South Carolina known for her intriguing scenes of figures in landscapes that are distinguished by rich block colors with curved lines. Paige’s paintings are created by adding several thin washes of oil paint on her canvas. Her expressive scenes are inspired by personal experience, found imagery from nature, and a desire to communicate the impact that our environment has on our emotions. Her work is influenced by master artists such as Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko, Milton Avery, and Ann Rothenstein.
Paige begins each work by drawing a loose composition using charcoal pencil or acrylic pens onto the canvas. Her hand moves intuitively across the work, allowing for gestural movements and wavy lines to create a lyrical composition as a starting point. Her preferred medium is thin washes of extra fine oil paint on canvas, but she sometimes incorporates monochrome inks on paper into her portfolio. Paige continues to add thin layers of paint, over and over again until the themes begin to emerge from her work. She combines textural color fields with intriguing block shaped figures, trees, and flowers across the painting. Paige adds detail with bright pops of color, playful pattern, and delicate fine lines that draw you deep into the painting.
Paige received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Advertising and emphasis in Drawing and Painting while attending University of Georgia. She continued her art studies while traveling across Spain and France. She completed an independent fine art program at University of Barcelona, Spain. Her work has been exhibited by numerous fine art galleries across the Southeast and New York, Texas and California. Her paintings are found in both private and public collections throughout the United States. Her passion is creating custom works for art collectors that speak to them. She works and resides in Charleston with her husband, a North Carolina native, and two children, Bowman and Lyons Gray, who share her affinity for art. When she's not painting in her studio, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying everything the Lowcountry has to offer.
